Dear Friends,
It is with a sense of great pride, that we write this acknowledgement to you all, as we together, celebrate our 2nd birthday.
DACC is an organisation that has risen to the many challenges it has had to face, with energy, respect, dignity and determination.
It is an organisation to be proud off!
The journey has not always been an easy one, but as cancer knows no boundaries, we have overcome our differences to work for a common cause, Improved Cancer Services for the People of Donegal, on an “Equal Access for Equal Need” basis.
Credit for all the great work does not belong to a few, but to everyone who has helped in any way, be it in the giving of their time, donations, attending meetings, photocopying, organising and distributing information for local meetings etc, we have all together contributed to our success. We in DACC believe all people are equal. We must also acknowledge the work and time that was given by those who, for their own reasons have chosen not to be part of DACC anymore. They too helped along this journey.
An indeed it is a journey, one which was started 2 years ago and hopefully will continue through time, so that the people of Donegal for generations to come, are enabled to have every opportunity to achieve a sense of wellness, health and quality of life through education and access to appropriate services.
DACC have many achievements to be proud off, the most memorable being
“The Awareness Rally” in May 06 with 15,000 people from all walks of life taking to the streets in a respectful and dignified manner.
That day the people of Donegal gave DACC the mandate to work towards ensuring that all that can be done by the people, for the betterment of cancer services, would be done.
Work within DACC is ongoing, with letters being written to relevant people and organisations, meetings, phone calls, reporting at meetings, the establishment of an office, the Information Booklet for Cancer Patients and their Families to name but a few.
To everyone, as individuals, local committee’s and at county level a very “ Sincere Thank You”.
May we celebrate many more years together.
“If each of us did a little, we together can effect profound change”
Yours Sincerely,
Lynn Mc Devitt, Co- Chairperson Noel A Coyle, Co- Chairperson
